Signs of Spring

It’s about time!

Winter in Michigan can drag on for what seems like forever. Temperatures can be brutal. Clouds blanket the state with grey dreariness most days and even a slight breeze on a sub-zero day feels like a thousand bee stings.

But it’s finally here!

New spring migrants are starting their return to the newly thawed tundra. While the winter birds such as Dark-eyed Junco are hanging on before their trek north, the songs of Chipping Sparrows and Eastern Towhee are serenading the mornings.

Eastern Towhee

It’s about time!

Baseball and spring migration go hand in hand. Today is a day that brings the warmth of spring that much closer with my Detroit Tigers playing their home opener today. My son and I will head down to watch our favorite team with 30 thousand more fans in attendance hoping for a winning outcome.

Welcome spring!

Its about time!
